Kickoff – Saturday, January 3, 2015

Saturday, January 3 , 2015
Saturday, January 3, was the kickoff of the 2015 FIRST Robotics competitive build season. The team met at the high school and watched a live stream of the 2015 game. Following this announcement, team members broke into groups and began to dissect the manual and gain a better understanding of the rules. During this time, students were prompted to investigate methods by which points could be scored, determine the point values for various actions, as well as propose an idea by which the team could obtain the most points. Following a team meal, the team conducted an inventory of the kit-of-parts and discovered some of the new technologies that have been made available this year. Following this discussion regarding the kit-of-parts, team members once again broke into smaller groups. During this session they were assigned to develop a strategy which they feel is the best to be used by the 2015 robot. The team then presented their ideas and exchanged feedback on the ideas of other individuals. This feedback session concluded the team kickoff meeting.
